Old Town’s Scottsdazzle lasts for an entire month and there really is something for everyone! This historic town center lights up with live concerts on the canal, the lighted Christmas tree on the Soleri Bridge, Sugar Plum Avenue (complete with sugar plum fairies and elves, candy canes and candy land bounce houses), the Miracle of Roses Pageant, the Santa Wine Around, and a live nativity at the Old Mission. Check their website for a complete list of concerts, wine tastings and other events. Plus, you can take care of any last minute shopping in the many unique stores and galleries!
Take the kids to McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park for the tree lighting ceremony, train rides through their festive winter wonderland and Santa. Plus, the train museum stays open for all those train enthusiasts in the group. Admission to the park is free, and but you will need to purchase tickets for the train and carousel rides.
Pack up the kids and head to the nearby Phoenix Zoo and their holiday extravaganza – ZooLights! It’s one of the largest light displays in the area, featuring over two-and-a-half million lights. Kids of all ages will enjoy all of the animal-themed displays and the hourly orchestrated light show. Watch your kids as they ride the carousel, visit the stingray touch tank, or try a camel ride – now there’s something your kids won’t ever forget!
Or, grab the whole group and head to the Fairmont Princess Resort to experience their holiday party. Ice skate on the desert rink surrounded by the lighted cacti garden, or stroll through the grounds after dark and enjoy the singing Christmas tree and the millions of lights sparkling through trees and poinsettias.
There are plenty of plays and other activities too, including the ever popular A Christmas Story: The Play at the Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre and the Annual CHEEZ-IT Bowl.
More of a concert goer? From mariachi to more traditional classical holiday music (like the Scottsdale Philharmonic’s Holiday Show), the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts offers something for everyone. Plus, The Musical Instrument Museum has a month-long list of holiday concerts including David Benoit: a Charlie Brown Christmas, the Canadian Brass: Christmas Time is Here, and the Klexmatics: A Happy Joyous Hanukkah.
