Variety

Old Town Scottsdale is jam-packed with bars, restaurants and nightclubs. We have cowboy-themed bars, cigar bars, brewpubs, comedy clubs, wine tasting bars, sports bars – you name it, there’s bound to be one in Old Town. And, of course they’ll all be having special festivities on New Year’s Eve. Just make sure you’re in town a few days before and after the holiday so you can try them all!

Never had kombucha? End the year by trying something new! The Whining Pig – McDowell Mountain has this fermented Japanese drink on tap. You’ve got to try it at least once. For a speakeasy kind of vibe, head to Beverly on Main; it’s retro vibe is a new take on an old cocktail bar. The Mystery Room is a 90-year-old speakeasy, where it’s rumored that Clark Gable and Carol Lombard spent time wetting their whistles during prohibition, or the Fox Cigar Bar – with over 30 TVs so you won’t miss the game.

Love to frequent dive bars? Look no farther than the Rooster Tavern. Pattie’s First Avenue Lounge is a laid-back spot where locals love the inexpensive drinks, pool tables, and dance floor. Wasted Grain is another casual, relaxed bar with a second-floor dance floor if you feel the need to boogie down. And The Coach House has been a Scottsdale favorite since 1959. This casual spot is unpretentious and laid-back.

Are sports bars more your thing? The Scapegoat Beer and Wine has table games to keep you occupied while you enjoy your drink. You can also try Bevvy. It isn’t your typical sports bar; this gastropub offers shuffleboard, giant Jenga darts, and off-track betting.

Want a Las Vegas vibe? Maya Day & Night Club, a popular dance club, has it in spades. Ready to dance the night away? Try the Mint or the Rockbar. Mint, an upscale Asian restaurant, transforms into an energetic dance club after sundown. During a dance break, be sure to make a trip to the champagne bar. And the Rockbar Inc. has a popular rooftop bar with an amazing view and live music.

You can’t make a trip to Old Town without visiting the best historic western bar in town, the Rusty Spur Saloon. It’s a favorite with visitors, celebrities and locals alike!

Celebrate the Way You Like It

Head to Old Town for some serious bar-hopping, make reservations for dinner with celebratory champagne and maybe some dancing, or reserve a spot at one of the lively parties going on at one of the many resorts here in Scottsdale. Every bar, nightclub, restaurant and resort will be hosting some sort of party, ranging from elegant to come-as-you-are casual. If the suggestions above weren’t enough, here are a few more! Hit the ultra-hip ZuZu’s, dine on Spanish tapas at Prado, and Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row is bound to be hopping throughout the night. Talking Stick Resort, as usual, will have several parties lined up, along with their champagne toast and balloon drop. Or, just wander around Old Town people watching while you wait for the dazzling fireworks display.

If you’re a homebody, dine out early then head back to your rental and Livestream the local fireworks, or watch the ball drop in Times Square. Or, you can always just step out onto your deck or patio and watch the fireworks with your favorite adult beverage in hand.

The majority of our villas have private decks, porches or patios – the perfect spot for watching fireworks, stars or a beautiful sunset. And many rentals have fireplaces or fire pits just right for roasting marshmallows and snuggling up while waiting for the start of the new year. You may decide to start the new year with a quiet, relaxing celebration for just the two of you. What could be better than sipping champagne cocktails while you lounge around the pool or snuggle before the firepit? The brilliant stars in the night sky are fireworks enough.
