Hunt’s Tomb is a small (for a pyramid) monument in Papago Park, and is the final (weird) resting place for the first Arizona governor, George W.P. Hunt, and his wife and daughter. Besides the tomb, the park is home to the Desert Botanical Gardens (a must see!), a fire museum, several small lakes, hiking and biking trails and the Phoenix Zoo.

A few popular hikes (and climbs) are the Pinnacle Peak Trail, Camelback Mountain, and Piestewa Peak.

Reclaimed water from the wastewater treatment plant is pumped to the wetlands on its way back into the river with the goal of bringing the Salt River back to the condition it was in during the early 1800. It’s worth the trip.
Spend a few hours drifting through the clouds on a hot air balloon ride and enjoy a panoramic view of the city and surrounding landscape. Spend the day at the Phoenix Zoo with exotic animal exhibits, camel rides and maybe a giraffe encounter or two.
