While most of the country will be celebrating the final weeks of summer over Labor Day Weekend and a return to cooler weather, Scottsdale will still be bringing the heat. Despite the scorching sun, Scottsdale continues to be one of the most visited areas in all of Arizona. We offer a variety of activities throughout the city that you can enjoy on your own while maintaining appropriate social distancing. Here are some of our favorite activities to enjoy on a Labor Day Weekend getaway:

Hike Pinnacle Peak Park

The Phoenix Valley is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges and peaks, many of which can be explored by foot. Pinnacle Peak is located near Scottsdale and features a wonderful park surrounding it with plentiful hiking trails. Easier trails allow children to hike up with you, while more difficult trails featuring rock climbing are also available. This makes Pinnacle Peak Park a great place for anyone looking to get adventurous outdoors. Make sure to hike early in the morning or around sunset to avoid the hottest part of the day and bring plenty of water!

More Ways to Hit the Trails

Pinnacle Peak is a great place to hike, but if you’re interested in other ways to explore the area, Scottsdale offers a number of great options! ATV tours are an exciting way to experience the trails of Scottsdale and are much easier for those of us who aren’t physically fit. Riding an ATV is exhilarating, letting you feel the wind in your hair and zip across the land. Another way to explore is from the back of a trusty steed. Horseback riding tours are also available near Scottsdale and are loved by families. Enjoy a guide-led tour or explore the trails for yourself over the course of multiple hours.

Tour Scottsdale

While there will not be any live events happening this year for Labor Day Weekend due to COVID-19, we still recommend you take a tour of Scottsdale. Get out on foot or Segway (available through a variety of locations). Scottsdale features beautiful artwork and building designs through areas such as Old Town. During normal circumstances, Scottsdale is a bustling city with much going on. Take advantage of this slower time for travel and see everything in Scottsdale while maintaining social distancing.

You do not need to stay at the resort to enjoy these exciting pool parties! Check out the W Scottsdale and other resorts for this year’s lineup.

Explore the Open Desert

Just because the sun is still out does not mean you can get out and explore the open desert around Scottsdale. Dust off your favorite pair of hiking boots or find the perfect mountain bike to help you see what the desert offers in beauty and incredible sights. Outdoor activities include bike rides, hiking workshops, and animal watching tours. Plan an early morning trip (when the temperature is still relative low) and bring plenty of water!

Dine-In

Scottsdale is home to many decadent dining options to enjoy during your trip. Make your way downtown and enjoy dinner at Café Monarch or visit Sel for some of the most sophisticated American cuisine around town. Get crazy at Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse with hand-selected racks of meat that are cut right at your table. Whichever you choose, you will enjoy some of the finest dining in all of Arizona.

Enjoy a Night Out

Oldtown Scottsdale is ready to host your friend’s gathering during your next Labor Day Weekend. Dierks Bentley’s Whisky Row will serve you a hand-crafted cocktail in this trendy tavern. The college crowd frequently visits Old Town Gringos for the Tex-Mex staples and delicious margaritas, all served in a colorful dining area. You can find ice cold beer, wine, and hand crafted cocktails in Old Town Scottsdale.

Golf It Up

Arizona is home to some of the best golf courses in the country thanks to the year-round sunshine the state gets. Tee it up early in the morning before it gets too hot and enjoy a fun 18 rounds of your favorite sport. There is never a better time to play golf than during Labor Day in Scottsdale!
