What to Do in Scottsdale
All of our properties are located within minutes of Old Town (the center of Scottsdale). This Western-styled historical area is overflowing with art galleries, unique shops, and more restaurants and bars than you can visit in one trip. And the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and Desert Botanical Gardens are nearby and ready for hiking adventures. And there are several golf courses, casinos, shopping malls and museums nearby for your enjoyment.
If your group is into the desert, its habitats and inhabitants, you’ll want to book one of our rentals on the edge of the Sonoran Desert. Our rentals are close to many trailheads, and you can hit the trails early and be back in time to enjoy the sun setting over the mountains as you lounge by the pool or by the firepit. Does your group like its hiking smooth and easy, or rough and rugged? For those who want a real desert experience, The McDowell Sonoran Preserve has several trails of varying lengths and difficulty. You can hike and climb through the saguaro and other cacti at your own pace. If you’re lucky, you’ll see a coyote or roadrunner along the trail. The Desert Botanical Gardens offer a slightly gentler hiking experience. You’ll learn about the desert and its history while you saunter along one of the trails. Stay for lunch at the Garden’s bistro.
Scottsdale is well known for its spas and art galleries. Why not do both? Take the day to indulge yourself with hours of pampering in one of the resort spas here in town, then head out for a night of gallery and bar hopping in Old Town. It’s a great place to add to or to start your art collection. Tired of the heat? Head indoors for shopping, art and AC. The Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West features exhibits on all aspects of western life from cowboys to Native American culture and art. If you love the old west, this place is a must see. If you need to shop, you can take your pick of several upscale experiences – Scottsdale Fashion Square, Scottsdale Quarter and Kierland Commons. Of course, you can just spend all your time exploring Old Town and its seemingly endless boutiques, shops, and galleries. From apparel and home furnishings to antiques, and from fine art to fun, tacky souvenirs, Old Town has it all.
