Activities
There’s so much to do in Phoenix. You can schedule your trip to align with one of the many festivals or tournaments throughout the year. There’s something going on almost every weekend, either in Phoenix or nearby. Make the most of your time here in Phoenix! Here are a few festivals you may want to attend: The Arizona Wine Growers Grand Wine Festival, the ever popular Phoenix Balloon Festival, the American Liberty Festival, the Arizona Strong Beer Festival or The Great Arizona Beer Festival, the McDowell Mountain Music Festival, the Arizona Musicfest, the International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival, and the Arizona State Fair. There’s a festival for everyone!
Love baseball? Spring Training is a great time to be in town, and you can watch your favorite players as they start the new season. If basketball is more your game, both the Phoenix Suns and the Phoenix Mercury play home games at Talking Stick Resort. After the game, stick around and hit the casino for adult games or take in one of the shows.
Love golf? Plan on taking in one of the area’s many golf tournaments. There will be plenty of lively crowds, party after party, and of course great golf on courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and others. Attend the PING Invitational in July, the PGA Tour Champion’s Charles Schwab Cup Championship in November, and of course, the “Greatest Show on Grass,” the Waste Management Phoenix Open, at nearby Scottsdale’s TPC course, just to name a few. Outside of tournament time, you can also get some swings in yourself! Or, rent one of our short term rentals in Phoenix, AZ with a backyard putting green for a little private practice time. Put together a friendly tournament with the gang.
Of course, you can always schedule a hike or desert tour on those extra days. Phoenix is surrounded by majestic mountains, and there’s sure to be a hiking trail close by your rental. In fact, Phoenix is well-known as an urban hikers’ paradise because there are so many great hikes right here in town. You really can’t come to Phoenix without taking at least one hike in the beautiful Sonoran Desert. There are trails of various lengths and difficulty, and many hikes are under two miles and have accessible trails for easy hiking. You can hike, bike, or do some rock climbing or rappelling. If you are short on time, hike the short Lookout Mountain Summit Trail, or Pinnacle Peak (a must-do for any trip) for breathtaking views. Or head to the Desert Botanical Garden, where you can learn about the desert, its history and habitat while walking one of the trails.
Or, just take an extra day or two to relax by the pool, enjoying the mountain views. It’s your vacation, and you can enjoy the scenery however you like – hiking through it, or just looking at it. No one will judge.
