What to Do Near Our House for Rent in Scottsdale

Most people come to Scottsdale for the Sonoran Desert and its amazing scenery and history. So, grab the kids (and the dog), and get out and into the desert. Hike, bike, jog, or just meander through one of the numerous trails in the Desert Botanical Gardens, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve or popular Camelback Mountain.

Take things nice and easy at the Desert Botanical Gardens. Their accessible trails wind through cacti and other native desert landscaping while educational plaques along the way provide a little history and information about the desert habitat. The Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve features an interconnected network of multi-use trails, showcasing the desert’s unique geography. Trailheads are located around the city and are of various lengths and skill levels. The Preserve is the place to truly get a feel for the desert, its extraordinary plants and diverse wildlife.

Go rock climbing, do a little rappelling or try canyoneering if you’re feeling adventurous. Do it yourself or take a guided tour—just do it! A tour guide will put together the perfect adventure for your group’s skill levels whether you want to hike, bike, climb or more. All while teaching you about our desert environment and history. We’re sure your kids will love an ATV or horseback riding tour through the desert!

Everyone knows spring means it’s time for Spring Training baseball! The San Francisco Giants play at the Scottsdale Stadium in the heart of Old Town, and the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks play at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. If you’re in town in February or March, let us help you get tickets to Spring Training games. Baseball and beer, yay!

With over eight hours of sunlight a day, imagine how many rounds of golf you can get in! This area is full of premiere courses, including Troon North Golf Club, Talking Stick and TPC Scottsdale (an award-winning course host to the PGA Tour’s Waste Management Phoenix Open). Of course, you could just rent a spring vacation house that comes with its own putting green. Skip the fees and crowds and just hang out around the pool with breaks to practice your putting. Nice!

And of course, there’s Old Town – the historic center of town is full of lively nightlife and dining establishments, small boutiques and shops, and world-renown art galleries. Old Town is the perfect place to browse as you seek out the next addition to your art collection or make that first acquisition. There are galleries with everything from fine art to fun, tacky souvenirs, paintings and sculptures, jewelry and buffalo rugs, and works from leading American and European artists as well as our talented local artists. Old Town is also the place to go if you’re looking for food and fun. This quirky little section of Scottsdale has just about anything you could ask for – cigar bars, whiskey bars, wine bars, brew pubs, fine dining, down home cooking and more.

If you’re a history buff or love the Wild West, head over to the Western Spirit: Scottsdale Museum of the West. Situated in the heart of Old Town, this small museum features exhibits on Western and Native American art, along with artifacts and cultural treasures including Old West cowboy gear, beautiful Hopi pottery and a wide variety of paintings and sculptures depicting western life past and present.
