June 21, 2019

This upscale outdoor lifestyle center manages to blend retail shopping, dining, and entertainment venues together for an intimate outdoor experience. If you find yourself needing a shopping fix while in Scottsdale, head to Kierland Commons – it’s more than just another mall or shopping venue!

History of Kierland Commons

Kierland Commons Resort opened in 2000 and was the first ‘lifestyle’ center in Arizona. Lifestyle centers (or boutique malls) are mixed-use commercial developments combining facets of the retail experience of a traditional shopping mall with leisure luxuries and amenities focused on upscale consumers. Lifestyle centers aim to be more than just another shopping center and more of a destination point for the surrounding area.

This outdoor mall was designed as a community gathering space for Kierland (an upscale planned community in North Scottsdale) but has turned into a gathering space for all of Scottsdale.

It isn’t just a great place to shop, but also a great place to gather with your friends, enjoy the desert weather and people watch. There are benches and tables just right for sipping that cappuccino, reading your newspaper (or tablet), and watching the world go by. Fountains provide nice background noise as you sit back and relax. Enjoy the added bonus of a place to stay near Kierland Commons like Paradise at Pinnacle Peak.
