The Rosson House Museum

The Rosson House Museum

April 29, 2019

Heritage Square in Phoenix, Arizona contains shops, museums, and restaurants and includes the only remaining group of residential structures from the original Phoenix settlement. The Heritage Square Complex is owned by the city of Phoenix and operated jointly by the Heritage Square Foundation and the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department.

Anchoring the complex, The Rosson House Museum is one of the eight remaining structures on the square. Restored as a house museum, this residence provides guests with a glimpse of 19th century living. Other residences in the complex have been restored and serve accessory functions for the museum, including The Bungalow (The Stevens House, now the gift shop), The Heritage Gallery (formerly the Stevens-Haustgen House), and four tempting restaurants. If you’re looking for fun things to do in Scottsdale, then consider visiting this amazing Scottsdale Museum!

About the Rosson House Museum

Originally constructed in 1895 by Dr. and Mrs. Roland Rosson and fully restored in the 1970’s, the Rosson House is a wonderful example of a Queen Anne-style Victorian residence. Take a guided tour of the house, and experience what life was like for Phoenix residents in territorial Arizona. With over 2,800 square feet, the residence’s rooms provide a timeless showcase for the museum’s collections of period furniture and a backdrop for learning the history of early Phoenix.

Time your visit to coincide with one of the many events happening in Heritage Square year-round or reserve the complex (or part) for your own celebration. And, if you are a Girl Scout, or know one who is interested in history (or earning another badge!), scouts can earn a Junior Historian Patch by touring the Rosson House and completing the scavenger hunt. It’s definitely one of the best Scottsdale Museums!
