Location, Location, Location
Your group may not have totally decided on what they’ll be doing on your Scottsdale vacation, or maybe you have a full itinerary planned with activities spread throughout the area and everyone’s on board with it. Either way, you’ll want to rent one of our luxury villas in Central Scottsdale. Central is the key word. In the middle of Scottsdale, their location makes them the perfect base point for all your activities. Close to everything – hiking trail heads, golf, nightlife and fine dining – these rentals are perfect for whatever your group decides to do during their stay.
Whatever you have planned, it’s not far away. If shopping is your thing, both the Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarters are just a couple miles away. Kierland Commons is a boutique mall combining aspects of a traditional shopping mall experience with leisure luxuries and upscale amenities, more of a destination than just a shopping center. And located in the Beverly Hills of the Desert, Scottsdale Quarter is another open-air mall. With over 80 retailers, a variety of dining opportunities, the Quarter also features an iPic Movie Theater and more.
Hiking & Biking
There are so many trails throughout the desert and mountains that surround Scottsdale of various lengths and difficulties, you’ll be sure to find several your group can enjoy. Hike, bike, horseback ride, or book an ATV tour that the kids will love. Rock climbing, rappelling, and mountaineering – it’s all here too. Head to Pinnacle Peak Park or the McDowell Sonoran Preserve for a rugged hiking experience as you work your way through trails past towering Saguaro cacti and other native desert landscaping. Keep an eye out for desert wildlife too – snakes, lizards, hawks, mule deer and more share the trails.
The Desert Botanical Gardens is less than thirty minutes away and offers an enjoyable way to hike through several desert trails while learning about the desert’s flora, fauna and history. Take the Sonoran Desert Nature Loop Trail and hike through forests of cacti and other desert landscaping, for an amazing view at the top. Hike one or all of these accessible trails, then enjoy lunch at the bistro.
If someone in your group loves trains, or you if you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids, head to McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. Kids can enjoy rides on the train or restored carousel while others wander through the exhibits in the museum. Kids will also enjoy Butterfly Wonderland; filled with live butterflies, a Rainforest Reptile Lab and more, it may be the largest indoor rain forest conservatory in the country.
And, while you’re driving around, be sure to visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West – it’s worth the short drive. Still the headquarters of the Taliesin Fellowship, Taliesin West was once Wright’s winter home. Rising up from the desert, it’s one of Wright’s best-known works. Be sure to reserve your tickets for the guided tours of this amazing compound, this is a popular destination. The Night Lights Tour offers a different view of a glittering Taliesin and the Private Collections Tour lets you get a behind the scenes look at fragile and unique pieces Wright collected throughout the years.
Leave the kids at home and make a night of it at Talking Stick Resort Casino. This large casino offers fine dining, concerts, poker, slot machines, table games, Keno and more. You can even take their free shuttle for some Spring Training fun at Salt River Fields, or spend the day pampering yourself at the spa.
Every visitor to Scottsdale needs to visit Old Town. Less than 15 minutes away from our Central Scottsdale villas, this historic district boasts quaint boutiques, a variety of dining establishments, wine bars, brewpubs, sports bars, and is a world-renowned art destination. From casual, home-style cooking to experimental, contemporary cuisine, from sports bars, whiskey and cigar bars to wine bars and craft beer pubs – Old Town has it all.
Or head to Western Spirit: Scottsdale Museum of the West for more area history and some AC. Right in the heart of Old Town, this small museum features Western artwork, rare artifacts and beautiful Hopi pottery among other exhibits. If you love the Wild West, add this to your itinerary!
